KARDO
TRACK. TRACE. TRUST.

Certainty you can prove.

Kardo connects the rooms, machines and records on a regulated production floor into one live, validated record. We are building it now.

WHY WE EXIST

Vision and mission

OUR VISION

A world where every patient can trust how their medicine was made, and every maker can prove it.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to connect every machine, room and record in a compounding pharmacy, old or new, into one live, validated record, so pharmacies can prove how every dose was made and catch problems before they reach a patient. We do it without replacing equipment or disturbing the processes they have already validated.

THE PROBLEM

Decades of equipment. Data in silos. Proof on paper.

Pharmaceutical production runs on equipment bought over decades. Machines with no network connection work beside modern controllers, and each comes with its own software, protocol and record. The data that matters most, such as cleanroom pressure, equipment status and instrument performance, ends up scattered across building and environmental monitoring systems, equipment software, lab systems and paper logs that do not talk to each other.

Every one of those records has to stand up to regulators. So people fill the gaps by hand: they walk the floor to read gauges, transcribe values into batch records, and reconcile spreadsheets before an inspection. That work is slow and costly, and every manual step is a chance for error. Problems surface late, as a deviation, an out-of-spec result or an inspector's question, when catching the drift earlier would have prevented them. And because each site's data stays locked in its own systems, the same issue can repeat across lines and sites without anyone seeing the pattern.

A compounding suite where every reading lives in its own silo Three rooms, storage, gowning and the cleanroom, each produce readings that end up in four separate places: a paper log, a wall gauge, a fridge recorder and a particle counter. None of them connect. Storage Gowning Cleanroom Supplies and records Hand wash and gown Sterile compounding Paper log read by hand Wall gauge checked each shift Fridge recorder its own software Particle counter exported weekly
Every reading that proves a compounded dose is safe lives somewhere different, and none of them talk to each other.
WHAT WE BUILD

Old and new, on one record.

Most production floors run on a mix of equipment from different decades. A new filling line sits next to a twenty-year-old autoclave, and the controllers, sensors and building systems around them each speak their own protocol. Kardo connects all of it. Compact bridges sit beside legacy and proprietary machines, wired in through galvanically isolated serial, CAN and I²C interfaces. They form a self-healing wireless mesh back to the gateway, so a node that drops offline never cuts the floor off. The gateway speaks Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Bluetooth LE, CAN, RS-485, RS-232 and M-Bus, and it connects to modern controllers and upstream systems over MQTT. Every signal becomes one live, normalised record of each room, machine and batch, which is stored on site and works alongside your validated systems. Security is anchored in hardware: a secure element holds the keys, every message is encrypted from node to node, and firmware is verified before it installs.

Above the gateway, Kardo turns raw signals into something people can act on. Data flows from every protocol through a staged pipeline that checks, batches and acknowledges each reading before storing it, and it keeps each room, machine and batch as a distinct record from end to end. Each stage runs in isolation, so a fault in one never corrupts the rest. Live dashboards show the state of the floor as it happens and raise alarms when conditions drift. Role-based access means operators, quality teams and managers each see exactly what they need, and nothing they should not. Standard APIs let your existing systems and trusted partners use the same data, so the record you rely on for daily decisions is the one you show an inspector.

The same suite, connected by Kardo A Kardo bridge sits in each room: storage, gowning and the cleanroom. The bridges form a wireless mesh to one Kardo gateway on site, which feeds a single live record showing every room in spec. HOW IT WORKS

Connect. Unify. Prove.

Connect, unify, prove Three steps. Connect: a Kardo bridge links an older machine and a modern controller. Unify: their readings join one live record. Prove: a batch report with a green check, ready for an inspector. Connect old and new equipment Unify one live record Prove any batch, on demand
STEP 1

Connect

Small bridges attach to the equipment you already have, old or new, and gateways bring in your building, environmental and lab systems. No machine gets replaced.

STEP 2

Unify

Every reading flows into one live record of each room, machine and batch, held securely on site.

STEP 3

Prove

See the state of your floor at a glance, catch drift before it becomes a deviation, and show an inspector exactly how any batch was made.

REGULATED BY DESIGN

Built for GMP

Read-only and on site Inside your facility, a Kardo bridge reads from validated equipment and never sends commands back. The Kardo gateway keeps the data on site. Data goes to the cloud or a data lake only if you choose. Your facility read-only no commands Equipment validated, unchanged Bridge observes Gateway data stays on site Cloud / Data lake only if you choose

Read-only where it matters

In GMP areas, Kardo observes your equipment and never sends commands or changes setpoints. Your validated processes stay exactly as they are.

Alongside, not in the way

Kardo runs in parallel with your building automation, environmental monitoring and lab systems. Nothing gets ripped out or revalidated to make room for it.

Your data stays on site

Processing happens at the edge, inside your facility. Data leaves only when you choose to send it.

Start small

Begin with one cleanroom, one line or one instrument cluster, prove the value with your quality team, then expand.

WHO IT'S FOR

One record, three teams.

Quality

Inspection-ready records every day, with a complete history of every room, machine and batch, so you can answer any question in minutes instead of days.

Operations

A live view of the whole floor, with early warnings before equipment drift turns into downtime or a lost batch.

Engineering

One place to see how every machine and system is performing, old or new, without wiring each one into a different tool.

ABOUT US

The first line the city planner laid.

In a Roman town, the first line the city planner laid was the cardo. Every street, wall and plot was then measured against it. Kardo does the same for the production floor. It connects the rooms, machines and records of regulated manufacturing into one live, validated record that quality teams can trust and inspectors can check. We start where the stakes are highest, in pharmaceutical compounding, where we are working with one of the largest compounding pharmacies in the world to improve their traceability, productivity and compliance. And we build for any industry that has to prove how its products were made. Behind Kardo is a hardware and software team that has spent three decades building systems that do not fail, from the first release of Erlang/OTP at Ericsson to the platforms that run today's telecoms, finance, messaging infrastructure and IoT automation. We bring that discipline to the factory floor, because certainty should be something you can prove.

From the Roman cardo to Kardo A Roman town plan. The cardo, the first line the city planner laid, runs north to south. The decumanus crosses it, and the forum sits where they meet. Every block of the town lines up against them. An arrow leads to the Kardo mark, which draws the same two axes and the square where they cross.
